With the increased desire of having a one of a kind or specialty item, in the bedroom it is often the headboard. give the instant impact of a luxury bed. Whether you have a cozy country setting, modern or classic there are many ways of making your bed a stand alone feature.
Custom Fabric:
This type of headboard can be one large piece or several smaller ones hung to form an intricate look. These are nice for sitting up and reading in bed. Re-purposed:
For those of you who are handy construct a find from a second hand store or your local re-store. Pick up an unexpected item and get creative. Purchase a few bi-fold doors and paint them to match your décor. Hang them vertical or horizontally. Remove any hardware and perhaps reappoint it for hanging tassels or decorative items. An old fireplace mantle can add to a rustic appeal and decorative accessories will add to the look. Window frames can have mirror, fabric, or wallpaper added where glass once was. Area rugs create huge visual impact as well.
Paint:
Stencils can create the visual of items without the clutter. Try painting a faux headboard or creating a small mural with a children’s theme. New stick on patterns can be purchased and arranged in an exhibit scattered behind the bed. You can have your own created at specialty printers to incorporate something you design yourself or to mimic fabric prints.
Wood:
Purchase an unblemished quality piece of plywood. Sand, stain and varnish it and make a modern statement headboard. Try veneering it with a more exotic wood for more interesting grain.
